Edge: one handle, four international awards

In the landscape of contemporary design, there are objects that go beyond their function to become true architectural statements. Edge, the door handle designed by OmniDe Architecture Studio and manufactured by Il Bronzetto, is one of them.
A project that, in 2025, received four major international recognitions, confirming its role as a balanced synthesis of formal research, technical precision, and craftsmanship.

An object born from architecture

Designed by Raffaele Oppido together with the OmniDe team, Edge interprets the everyday gesture of opening a door as a design experience. Its faceted surfaces, sharp geometries, and precise cuts recall the language of contemporary architecture, transforming a functional element into a sculptural presence.

Entirely manufactured by Il Bronzetto in Florence, Edge is the result of an encounter between advanced design and artisanal metalworking, with finishes refined down to the smallest detail and a careful focus on the relationship between light, material, and form. The possibility of combining multiple finishes within a single piece further reinforces the distinctive character of the project.

European Product Design Award 2025 – Winner

Edge was awarded Winner at the European Product Design Award 2025, in the category HOME – Household Products / Home Furniture Accessories.

Promoted by the Farmani Group, the award celebrates products capable of improving everyday life through intelligent, functional, and innovative design.

The jury recognized Edge for its ability to merge geometric precision and construction quality, elevating the door handle from a simple accessory to a true architectural design feature.

GOOD DESIGN® Award 2025

In 2025, Edge also received the prestigious GOOD DESIGN® Award, one of the most authoritative international recognitions in the field of design. Founded in Chicago in 1950 by Eero Saarinen and Charles and Ray Eames, GOOD DESIGN® is globally regarded as a benchmark for excellence in industrial design.

The inclusion of Edge in the Permanent Design Collection of The Chicago Athenaeum Museum of Architecture and Design, as well as in the GOOD DESIGN Yearbook 2025–2026, represents a significant milestone, highlighting the cultural and design value of the object beyond its functional role.

International Design Awards 2025 – Honorable Mention

Edge received an Honorable Mention at the International Design Awards (IDA) 2025, a global competition that recognizes innovation and visionary thinking across design disciplines.

In this context as well, the handle was appreciated for its sculptural quality, its dynamic interaction with light, and its ability to express a strong contemporary identity while maintaining a clear functional purpose.

THE PLAN Award 2025 – Finalist

Completing this journey, Edge was selected as a Finalist at the THE PLAN Award 2025, in the Industrial Design category.

The award, dedicated to architecture, interior design, and urban planning, recognizes projects that meaningfully contribute to the contemporary design discourse.

Edge’s selection confirms its positioning as a high-end architectural hardware system, conceived for refined contexts and architecture where attention to detail is essential.

A shared achievement

These recognitions represent far more than a list of awards. They speak of a design approach rooted in dialogue between vision and material, between concept and craftsmanship.
For Il Bronzetto, Edge embodies an idea of craftsmanship that looks to the future, grounded in expertise and capable of engaging with the international design language. An object that demonstrates how even the smallest architectural element can become a protagonist, when it is born from a solid collaboration, shared research, and an authentic attention to detail.
