It is more than a mere functional process—removing sharp edges or refining profiles—but a genuine creative gesture, transforming crystal into an object that captures and refracts light, becoming the centerpiece of a space.

1. Preparazione del cristallo: prima dellamolatura, il cristallo deve essere modellato e pulito.
Inoltre, in questa fase, vengono tracciati i contorni del disegno sul cristallo, segnando con precisione il punto in cui avverrà la molatura, garantendo precisione e coerenza estetica del risultato finale.

2. Choosing abrasive wheels: abrasive wheels or belts made of stone, carborundum, or diamond with progressively finer grains are selected based on the desired finish.

3. Initial grinding – removing sharp edges: using coarse-grain wheels (such as carborundum), the crystal’s sharp edges are smoothed for safety and uniformity. This phase reduces significant imperfections.



4. Refining the surface: an intermediate or fine-grain wheel is then used to remove finer scratches. This delicate step ensures uniformity across the crystal's surface.

5. Beveling or profiling: special wheels create a decorative bevel, a sloped or rounded edge that enhances the aesthetic appeal and functionality of the piece.

6. Polishing: after grinding, the crystal undergoes polishing, applying abrasive pastes on increasingly fine wheels until achieving the desired brilliance. This stage imparts the crystal’s final transparency and shine.



7. Quality control and finishing: the crystal is carefully inspected to ensure it’s free from scratches, irregular edges, or microfractures. If necessary, some steps are repeated to achieve perfection.



8. Engraving and decoration: in certain cases, grinding is followed by artistic engraving, using diamond tips or specialized wheels to create decorative patterns on the crystal.
