Castello di Casole, A Belmond Hotel - Tuscany

A TUSCAN TALE

Nestled in the Tuscan countryside, amidst gentle hills and surrounded by an oak forest, Castello di Casole, a Belmond Hotel, reopened to the public for the 2023 season. The castle is a noble estate boasting a long history deeply rooted in its agricultural past. It belonged to the aristocratic Bargagli family, who resided in Casole d’Elsa since the mid-17th century, and then changed hands until it was acquired by the Belmond group.

RUSTIC YET CONTEMPORARY

The estate, once an independent village and a highly productive farm, has been transformed into a contemporary-style hotel with rustic charm. Tuscan-born and Parisian-by-adoption designer, Alessandro Moriconi, commissioned by the ownership to oversee the restoration and design of the hotel suites, chose to employ traditional techniques and raw materials, both original and reclaimed, for both the structure's restoration and the interior and exterior furnishings.

BRONZETTO AMONG THE CRAFTSMEN

Bronzetto was one of the artisanal craftsmen involved in creating custom furniture for many of the satellite villas of the village. Chairs, sofas, tables, and coffee tables, with their rustic materiality, took shape in the Florentine artisan workshop. Techniques such as wrought ironwork or brass casting characterized Bronzetto's production. Earth tones and olive hues predominated, while rough and irregular textures were favored. The entire design draws inspiration from the rural surroundings and the essential style of Giacometti. The Eden outdoor furniture line, also suitable for interiors, is made of mahogany-painted iron, simple and essential, with custom-made upholstery in olive green, perfectly aligned with the Tuscan countryside they inhabit.
