Young designers and Il Bronzetto: a bright collaboration for Caravanillia, Florence

Where contemporary creativity meets artisanal mastery in the heart of Florence

In today’s design world, the union of tradition and innovation is no longer optional — it’s essential. More and more, young interior designers and architects are becoming ambassadors of artisanal craftsmanship, recognizing that the blend of creativity and savoir-faire is the key to winning over clients who dream of tailor-made, one-of-a-kind pieces with an exclusive design.

In this landscape, Il Bronzetto stands as the ideal partner for any kind of special project — from over-six-meter chandeliers for opulent residences in the UAE to custom adjustments in finish, size, or color that turn even the smallest object into a unique piece.

A vision that began in 2014

It was Simone Calcinai, Il Bronzetto’s manager, who first understood the value of collaborating with young designers. Back in 2014, he made the decision to revamp the company’s catalog and involve emerging talents in the development of more contemporary collections. This forward-thinking approach gave rise to Brass Brothers & Co., followed by Eclectic — lines that continue to shape unique projects across the globe.

The Caravanilia project: craftsmanship, hospitality, and vision

It was within this dynamic and collaborative environment that the partnership with Valentina and Cristina, founders of Caravanilia, took shape. Two friends — one architect and one surveyor — both from Ferrara, who combined their passion for design, art, and hospitality into a boutique accommodation project rooted in their favorite places: Ferrara, San Pasquale (Sardinia), Florence, and Cortina d’Ampezzo.

For their Florentine apartment, an elegant space in the heart of the Oltrarno overlooking Piazza Pitti, every detail was carefully reimagined in collaboration with Leonardo Zorzet, a young architect and long-time client and friend of Il Bronzetto, who served as the link between the designers and our workshop.

Objects that tell a personal story

Furniture and lighting were selected and customized from the Brass Brothers & Co., Timeless, and Eclectic collections. The result is a refined blend of contemporary and classic: the Cage chandelier in brass and the matching pouf share the living space with elegant reading and picture lights, while the Wormhole adjustable spotlights dance across the hallway ceiling, projecting beams of light that guide and surprise.

Among the most iconic pieces is the Fauna table lamp — a finely cast brass sculpture in the shape of an ibis, crowned with a shade of real pink feathers. This piece perfectly embodies Caravanilia’s distinctive style: a fusion of cultures and traditions, where exotic elements blend with clean, traditional lines to create an unexpected harmony.

A new generation of bespoke design

This project — like many others — shows how the dialogue between young creatives and historic workshops is one of the most powerful ways to bring distinctive, meaningful, and place-specific ideas to life.

At Il Bronzetto, our doors are always open to custom requests. With the support of our technical team, we bring projects to life, share ideas, develop prototypes, revive designs from our archive, or reinterpret those of legacy brands that are no longer in production.

We continue to be the workshop where ideas take shape — where every client can find a tailor-made solution, and every project becomes a shared experience of beauty, function, and value.
