In this renovation, carried out by Studio G+, of a farmhouse surrounded by the Tuscan countryside, light becomes the guiding element that unites past and present. The abundant natural illumination, pouring through large windows and enveloping the interiors throughout the day, was placed at the heart of the concept. The aim of the lighting design was not to overshadow it, but rather to accompany it, enhance it, and let it resonate even in the areas where its presence is more subdued.
Light as the Guiding Principle of the Project
In this renovation of a farmhouse surrounded by the Tuscan countryside, light becomes the guiding element that unites past and present.
The abundant natural illumination, pouring through large windows and enveloping the interiors throughout the day, was placed at the heart of the concept.
The aim of the lighting design was not to overshadow it, but rather to accompany it, enhance it, and let it resonate even in the areas where its presence is more subdued.
Expanding Natural LightThrough Targeted Interventions
To achieve this balance, artificial lighting was conceived as a quiet extension of natural light: not a dominant presence, but a focused action that amplifies its perception.
Brass details, selected for their ability to reflect and diffuse light with warmth and softness, become precious surfaces that multiply glimmers and add depth to the interiors.
This refined golden metal, with its gentle luminosity, guides the eye without ever imposing itself, contributing to an atmosphere that is both harmonious and subtly vibrant.
Bronzetto Brass as theMaterial ‘Signature’ of the Project
Every detail, from the proportions of the interiors to the selection of finishes, was custom-designed and crafted by Studio G+, supported by the enthusiastic involvement of Susie, the owner, a painter and interior design enthusiast who approached the world of Tuscan craftsmanship with genuine curiosity.
In the restoration of the farmhouse, the brass elements crafted by Il Bronzetto take on a central role, becoming the stylistic signature that connects the spaces and expresses the design identity of the entire home.
It is not merely a decorative material: it is a narrative element that reappears throughout the project, weaving its way into the details, illuminating surfaces, and creating visual continuity.
Its presence, subtle yet decisive, lends the volumes a timeless elegance, echoing Tuscan artisanal heritage and engaging in a dialogue with natural light that flows
freely through the large windows.
In crafting the bespoke furnishings, brass enriches every piece made of wood. Bleached oak — both veneered and solid — was chosen for its material
purity and its ability to welcome light with softness.
Each furniture element was conceived as a unique piece, yet all share the same guiding thread: a luminous, natural palette and brass details in a natural, uncoated finish, free to develop a gentle patina over time.
Knobs, handles, and brass trims establish a coherent design language that flows through the kitchen, storage units, boiserie, and bathroom furniture, creating
a warm and sophisticated visual rhythm.
The choice of natural brass is not merely
aesthetic: its subtly irregular surface captures and reflects light in different ways, amplifying its intensity and helping it reach the more intimate corners of the farmhouse. In this way, material becomes light and light becomes material: a continuous dialogue that enriches the spaces without ever becoming intrusive.
The result is a project in which brass
does more than just decorate: it shapes identity. A living material that
evolves alongside the house and its inhabitants, allowing time to transform its surface
and tell its story.
The brass details, central in many of the images accompanying this narrative, embody the constant interplay between material and light. Handles, faucets, frames, and inlays all reflect warm golden highlights that shift throughout the day, bringing into the home the same luminous vibration that animates the surrounding landscape.
A Discreet Lighting Strategy That Elevates the Architecture
Architects Giuseppe Aresu and Giuseppe Argiolas of Studio G+ in Florence selected lighting solutions with a measured, almost invisible design, preferring clean lines, integrated sources, and color tones capable of harmonizing with daylight.
Every choice was guided by the desire to preserve the central role of natural light, allowing it to define the character of the farmhouse.
The lamps become subtle tools at the service of the architecture: they illuminate the most intimate corners, enhance the textures of the materials, and highlight cream and beige tones, accompanying everyday living without ever stealing the spotlight.
A Luminous Balance Between Nature and Design
The result is a refined balance of light, where nature and architecture merge into a seamless perceptual continuum that makes the home bright in every corner, while honoring the authentic beauty of Tuscan light.
